What RallyPoint is

RallyPoint is a platform where convention organizers set up and run their events — badge sales, schedules, volunteers, vendors, merch, and the books — and where attendees register and take part. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account. Keep your account information accurate and your credentials to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. An account found to be committing fraud is shut down, with no recourse other than contacting the platform operator at the address below. Otherwise, if we need to close an account or a convention, we say why and give a reasonable window to export your data; a convention with a sale underway is wound down carefully, never switched off mid-sale.

Conventions belong to their organizers

Each convention on RallyPoint is run by its organizers, not by us. Organizers are responsible for their event: the venue, the program, compliance with the laws that apply to them — including collecting and remitting any taxes on what they sell — and the policies they set for refunds, conduct, and admission.

When you buy a badge, reserve merch, or register for an event, you are transacting with that convention. Refunds and disputes follow the convention's policies. RallyPoint provides the tools and the records, but we are not the promoter, seller, or insurer of any event, and we are not responsible if an event changes, disappoints, or is cancelled.

Some events can't run on RallyPoint. Anything involving cannabis or controlled substances, and anything else our payment processor prohibits, is off the table — the finance rules that govern payment processing govern us too. Organizers may use the information attendees give them only to run their event.

An organizer selling through RallyPoint agrees to describe their event accurately, honor every badge and seat they sell, keep a valid account with the payment processor and follow its terms, and handle age limits, accessibility, and conduct at the door as their own policies require. If a claim arises from an event — from an attendee, a venue, or anyone else — it is the organizer's to answer, not ours.

Payments and fees

Each convention sells through its own payment account. When you buy from a convention, the charge is the convention's — it appears under their name on your statement, and the money goes to them. RallyPoint takes a platform fee from the organizer on each sale and never holds your money. Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor; RallyPoint never stores card numbers. Any platform fees are disclosed before you commit to a sale or purchase.

Conventions set their own refund window. Inside it, attendees can refund a badge, seat, or merch item themselves; the refund returns what was paid for the item less the fee the convention retains, which is shown before you confirm. Outside the window, refunds are at the convention's discretion.

If the platform fee schedule that applies to a convention changes, the organizer gets at least sixty days' notice.

How RallyPoint handles your money and your data

Your card never touches RallyPoint. Payment is handled by Stripe. When you buy from a convention, you pay the convention through its own Stripe account; the charge appears under the convention's name, and the money goes to the convention. RallyPoint never sees or stores card numbers, and never holds your money. Sales tax is computed by Stripe against the venue's jurisdiction at the moment of sale.

Sign-in is handled by a dedicated identity provider. RallyPoint does not store your password. Passwordless sign-in and social sign-in go through that provider, and your account can be deleted on request.

What we keep is what a convention needs to run. Your name as you choose to show it, your badges, your event sign-ups, your purchases, and the answers you give a convention when it asks. Legal names, where a convention requires them for pickup, are visible only to that convention's organizers. Our privacy policy lists exactly what is collected and who can see it.

Every change is tested before it ships. Each release runs an automated suite across the checkout path, badges, sign-ups, and the organizer tools before it deploys, and deploys the same way every time. Multiple security reviews of the platform's API have been completed and findings are worked through before the next release. There's a standing policy to regularly run security reviews to keep the platform secure.

New conventions start with limits. The application is built to make life easy for convention organizers and attendees. RallyPoint is built to allow an organizer to quickly build a site that can get their audience excited. Purchases and grants are limited in the system until an organizer verifies their identity to our payment processor (Stripe) and also reaches out to me personally. Not all of the limits are visible. Honest people shouldn't have to spend their time checking boxes.

A person is accountable. RallyPoint is designed, built, and run by me, Jeff Vandenberg. I'm a software engineer and engineering manager by trade, across more industries than I'll list here, and an MtG judge and game store owner by hobby. I have been building toward this platform, from both sides, for most of my life. I understand what it takes to help make a great event; I have been doing it for years, usually behind the scenes. I have taken feedback from people about the limitations of existing platforms, and wanted to make something that meets what people expect. Your content

What you post — convention pages, event descriptions, images, applications — stays yours. You grant RallyPoint the license needed to host and display it so the platform works. Don't post what you don't have the right to post, and don't use the platform to harass, defraud, infringe, break the law, or interfere with the service or other users.

Third-party infrastructure

RallyPoint runs on third-party providers — hosting, databases, authentication, payment processing, and file storage for content you upload, such as images. By using the platform you acknowledge that your content is stored on and served through those providers. We choose them carefully and make reasonable efforts to keep your content safe and available, but we are not liable for failures, outages, or data loss within their systems, and we do not guarantee preservation of uploaded content — keep your own copies of source assets. If you believe content on RallyPoint infringes your rights, contact us and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it.

The service, as it is

RallyPoint is young, and some features are newer than others; where something is still settling in, we say so on the page. RallyPoint is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability to you for any claim arising from the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We work hard to keep the platform available and your data safe, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms; material changes land on this page with a new effective date, and continued use after a change is acceptance of it. Previous versions are available on request. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and any dispute is brought in the state or federal courts serving Pierce County, Washington. Questions: support@rallypoint.events.
